Selection procedure was very hectic in RV. Consists of 4 rounds
1.written
2.Technical-1
3.technical-2
4.coding
1. written test: paper consist of 13 questions. 1 program and 12 aptitude questions. many questions based on the trees(binary)..n in bms all 12 questions based on C.
Example question:
1. there r 10 cards. Numbered 4m 1-10.. 5 cards randomly picked. What s the probility of getting cards in assendin order.
2. How many 1’s are present in 0-63 in binary..
3. For a couple 1st child s a boy..what s the probably of 2nd child being a boy
And one program.. the duration of the test is 60 mins
In 1st round 11 got shortlisted
After 2nd round 6 got selected
Final shortlist not yet announced
1st technical round was somewhat easy compared to 2nd ....

the paper consisted of two sections:

1)Aptitude

2)C programming

The papers were different for CS and EC students.EC guys had second section different.i.e they did not have C programming.

Our C programming section did not have options. There were 10 questions.

1)Write a c code to delete an element from a doubly linked list.

2)Write a non recursive program to calculated the GCD of two numbers.

3)What is the difference between char* a and char a[].

4)There are question on unions regarding the accessing of variables of a union.

5) Write a c code to sort a linked list

6)How do you declare an array of function pointers which inturn return character pointers

Aptitude also they had given sheets to work out. We had to explain our answers.Aptitude was easy and solvable. But the problems were kind of lengthy. Two classical problems were asked i.e the egg problem. Problems regarding the cisterns were also there.

They shortlisted 10 of them for the second round and they selected only 1.

There were 1 technical and HR interviews.

CS students were bombarded with network questions.Few were asked fourier transforms and all that stuff.For few it was simple

NDS PEPER ON 15 TH SEMTEMBER 2008 at NATIONAL INSTITUTE OF ENGG, MYSORE. Hi Friends,. This is RAJESH P S FROM NIE EC. I am very happy to say that, I got selected. I would like to share my experience with respect to written test as well as interview.

Cut off % was 70%.During ppt they have reduced to 69% I am frank with you that, I could not able to give exact questions. Just I put my experience with few words. Before writing this company I have attended other 19 companies .

As I am an E & C student, I lost many companies in written itself due to tech written like C++, data structures , OS , Computer Networks. so study c++, datastuctures, OS, and all if possible. Because it helps u a lot .

And also dont loose hopes. one day will definetely come and on that day u will get through without much problems. The recruitment process was conducted in four phases.

1. Written Test
2. Pick and Speak
3. Technical Interview
4. HR Interview

1. Written Test : It consists of 3 sections . Aptitude 25 ques, C programming 10 ques , programming descriptive type 1, 10 marks. Apti questions were easy. It needs no peparation because there is lot of time. time given to us is 2 hours!!! In apti they asked about problems on age, work, simple blood relation questions,percentage,parntership etc. for c section read Test ur C skills by yeshavanth kanetkar.it helps u a lot . for programming descriptive type, they have given one prog. we need to code it in c or c++ any language u want.

Question: there are N elements in an array. u have one number x. u have to check whether there exists two elements in that array whose sum is x.But order should be less than N^2( N square).

2. Pick and Speak : Here simple topics like agriculture in INDIA, Beauty contest, animal experimentation, something like this . they will not eliminate much in this round.

3. Technical interview : Here they asked some puzzes and C questions thats all.if u dono c++,datasrutures then dont worry. Just go through C. Thats enough. But learn it properly and in detail. Mainly concentrate on pointers in C and malloc, calloc and all.In my interview tey asked . what is the diff between a++ and a=a+1 . diff between memory mapped I/O and I/O mapped I/O. . about bitwise operators in C. .about my project and 2 puzzeles.

4. HR interview: they will not eliminate anyone in this round. Its just a fomality. Thats all from side. Hope for the best.WHATEVER HAPPENS, HAPPENS FOR GOOD. dont compromise in platform(nature of work) u wanted. but may be for salary. THANKING YOU With warm regards, RAJESH P S

NETAPP is the first company recruited SJCE n NIE students of 2010 batch
Netapp- one of the leaders in the domain of storage media.. Nearly 220 eligible students wrote the xam.. 145 from SJCE and 72 from NIE.. they shortlisted only 30 students. 19 from JCE N 11 from NIE.

The rounds were elimination rounds. It went on till 11 P.M
Adhip M R of E&C, Vaivaswatha N of CS and Sumanth Prabhu of CS of SJCE got into Netapp. Adhip is the only guy selected from EC branch.
